DFS 346

The DFS 346 was a German experimental rocket-powered aircraft designed during World War II. Developed by the German Research Institute for Gliding (DFS), its primary purpose was to explore the characteristics of supersonic flight. The aircraft featured a sleek, low-drag design with swept wings and a pressurized cockpit, intended for a single pilot. It was to be carried aloft by a parent aircraft and then released to ignite its rocket engines for a high-speed, high-altitude research flight.
While the DFS 346 was never completed or flown during the war, the project was continued after the conflict by the Soviet Union, which captured the aircraft's components and a team of German engineers. Several unpowered and powered test flights were conducted, but the program was ultimately abandoned due to instability issues at high speeds. The aircraft played a role in the early development of supersonic flight research and influenced later designs.

We have deliberately chosen the FDM process to produce our models. For optimal results, the models are printed at high resolution with custom developed print profiles. This enables us to use bio- degradable materials with minimal waste and no involvement of toxic chemicals. A certain surface roughness is however inevitable. If desired, light sanding will help to improve surface finish.

For gluing, cyanoacrylate glue works well (not included).
